The Lithuanian Hydrometeorological Service forecasts heavy rain, accompanied by thunderstorms in some places, in northern and eastern districts during the day, with northwesterly winds gusting up to 15-17 meters per second.
Edita Gečaitė of the Hydrometeorological Service told BNS that the heaviest rain would fall on the eastern part of the country. The rate of rainfall in Vilnius may be similar to that during Tuesday’s downpour.
“Some 23 millimeters fell by 9 p.m. and there was a similar amount of rainfall during the night. Around 20 mm is possible (on Thursday),” she said.
The Lithuanian Road Administration has cautioned motorists to be particularly careful during downpours.
