After securing the doubles title with Lukas Mugevičius earlier on Friday, Grigelis (ATP 322) was ready to win his second title in the ITF President’s Cup tournament that was held in Vilnius’s central courts.

His rival in the final match was the Russian Roland Slobodchikov (21, ATP 1047) who surrendered to the Lithuanian in straight set mach 6-3, 6-2. It was the second singles title in this tournament for Grigelis who won it two years ago. Interesting to note, in 2013 Grigelis also won both the singles and the doubles finals.

After his victory, Grigelis told the Lithuania Tribune about his emotions: “It’s an amazing feeling to win it again because it is not easy to re-win for the second time.”

Despite the victory, Grigelis wasn’t satisfied with his performance and hoped to get better: “Of course I didn’t play my best tennis but I tried to play well, to make my best shoots and to miss fewer balls and of course to fight for every point.”

Now, Grigelis will look for more tournaments and victories in order to be back in the top 200 players in the world as he was during the 2012 season. Judging by his performance on the Lithuanian clay, the top 200, and even the top 100 is a very realistic goal.
