“The consul will leave on Monday at the latest. He will communicate with responsible institutions and will provide consular assistance to the three Lithuanian citizens,” Rasa Jakilaitienė, spokeswoman for the ministry, told BNS.
The Russian ambassador was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Friday in response to the detention of the Lithuanian fishing vessel Jūrų Vilkas (Sea Wolf). Lithuania claims physical force was used against the vessel’s captain, a Lithuanian citizen.
Meanwhile Russia says the vessel was illegally fishing in Russia’s economic zone.
