Cytacka, a member of the Electoral Action of Poles in Lithuania, was dismissed in response to a statement by Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevičius that she had failed to ‘live up to expectations’.
Neverovič, who says to have backing from the president, had to dismiss the deputy by Tuesday night or risk losing his job.
Cytacka was the only deputy minister who refused to step down before the Cabinet returned its powers after Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaitė was inaugurated for a second term on 12 July.
Cytacka previously sparked controversy after calling the president a liar and refusing to hoist a Lithuanian flag on her house in Šalčininkai District on two Lithuanian national holidays in a row, but raising a Polish flag on a Polish national holiday.
