Russia asks for more voting sites in Lithuania during Russian 2018 presidential election

According to the Lithuanian Foreign Ministry, the request from the Russian embassy is currently being considered. Lithuania receives similar requests ahead of every election in Russia.

In the 2016 State Duma election, Russian citizens could cast their votes at polling stations in four Lithuanian cities and towns, including Vilnius, Klaipėda, Šiauliai and Visaginas. Around 2,000 voters turned out to the polls.

Russian President Vladimir Putin is widely expected to win the a fourth presidential term in the March 2018 election.
