113 new HIV cases in Lithuania this year

The Centre for Communicable Diseases and AIDS said that a total of 2,350 HIV-positive people had been registered by 1 November 2014, including 1,886 men and 464 women.

The average age of the newly-infected individuals is 37, i.e., four years above the overall age average of HIV-positive people.

The number of new AIDS diagnoses this year (26) indicates a drop by a third year-on-year (39). Throughout the history of registration of HIV patients in Lithuania since 1988, 404 HIV-positive people were diagnosed with AIDS. 301 people in Lithuania have died of AIDS.
