4 out of 5 Vilnius University study fields are now among top 400 in the world

4 out of 5 Vilnius University study fields claim its spot among the top 500 in the world. These are Natural Sciences (383 position), Social Sciences and Management (384), Arts and Humanities (393), Engineering and Technology (451-500).

‘Newest rankings confirm the fact our graduates are valued greatly by the employees, as well as our academics known across the globe for their scientific contributions. It is important for those still looking where to study to look into the rankings and indicators, have them compared with other institutions in order to make wise decisions. Especially for young, talented Lithuanians, who consider studying abroad, since they can have great quality studies right here at their doorstep’, – says VU rector, professor Artūras Žukauskas.

In the Arts and Humanities field, Linguistics took a top spot and is ranked 201-250 globally.

Physics and Astronomy marks 251-300 spot for the third year in a row, while Natural Sciences rose to 383rd position.

VU also improved its position in Social Sciences and Management studies, which is now ranked as 384th in the world (last year it was among 451-500 best). Accounting and Finance got 251-300 spot, while Business and Management studies is among 401-450 best.

Computer Sciences and Information Systems, Biology and Medicine study fields are ranked among 451-500 best in the world.

The h-index, which evaluates the impact of scientific publications, is strongest in Physics and Astronomy subject with 76,8 points out of 100. Next goes Natural Sciences (75,3 points), Accounting and Finance (68,9 points), Medicine (68,4 points) and Biology (67,2 points).
