The young people will have five days to decide whether they want to pursue a military career.
During the first few weeks of training, conscripts will undergo mainly theoretical training on weapon handling, using communication devices, rendering first medical aid, elements of tactics, topography, military engineering, and military formation. Practical field training will start in six weeks.
Conscripts from 18 to 38 years old – men and women who have not completed the compulsory basic military service and have not undergone basic military training by other methods – are invited to join the basic military training on a voluntary basis.
Such training is organized to ensure the army’s mobilization reserve and provide an opportunity for young people to undergo basic military training and further pursue a military career in the Lithuanian army.
