72 WWII-era explosives found in canal next to Klaipėda dolphinarium

The first shells were unearthed on Tuesday by workers cleaning the canal.

An operation to neutralize the explosives was continued by specialists of the Juozas Vitkus Engineering Battalion on Wednesday, who discovered a total of seventy-two 150 mm shells.

The explosives were transported to the Kairiai training grounds for destruction. The operation was completed on Wednesday afternoon.

Twenty standard explosive devices were found during the canal cleaning work earlier this year.
