The Japanese Self-Defense Force training ships will stay in Lithuania from August 7 to 11 as part of a visit initiated by Japan.
Minister of National Defence Juozas Olekas said that the soldiers were coming to visit Lithuania, not to take part in military exercises.
“There will be general interaction between soldiers, a meeting with Military Academy graduates, and we’ll organize several excursions throughout Lithuania,” he said.
“There is a tradition that when foreign states’ ships visit countries, they take us on board while the foreigners get to know our country,” he added.
