Agriculture minister under scrutiny for awarding contracts to party-linked companies

The opposition Liberal Movement party has asked the Official Ethics Commission to look into the actions of Minister Baltraitienė, of the Labour Party, and her deputy Vilius Martusevičius who heads the Agriculture and Food Market Regulation Agency in charge of buying products for the ministry’s programmes.

“We have turned to the [ethics] commission, because we can see in this story possible personal interests of the Labour Party and individuals and companies linked to it,” said liberal leader Eligijus Masiulis.

Moreover, Deputy Agriculture Minister Martusevičius was previously employed by Uspaskich’s companies, something he has failed to mention in his official resume, according to Masiulis.
