Businessman pushes for multi-cultural multi-million citizen Vilnius

“I have a dream that Vilnius would become a multi-million city. In other words, that it would become a space for multiculturalism,” said Dargis.

Dargis received the St. Christopher statuette at this year‘s coveted Vilnius awards for his contribution to business and he shared his thoughts on the future of Lithuania‘s capital Vilnius.

He said that in the modern world competition was not between countries but between cities. That competition, according to Dargis, is growing so it is becoming more and more necessary to make Vilnius an attractive place for creative people.

Vilnius is moving in the right direction, according to Dargis – the city is getting younger, it attracts an increasing number of young people whose needs are pushing ahead progress in the city, he said.

“I wish that the city continues to grow, because it is one of the Lithuanian cities that is actually growing. It is regrettable that this is happening at the expense of other Lithuanian cities, but the city fathers‘ leadership, I believe, will continue to grow the city,” Dargis said.

“The city only has a vibrant, beautiful, comfortable aura, when all citizens – the city‘s parents and urban architects, its diverse urban community, city businesses and the academic community are creating a city together that can make it a comfortable place to live in,” he said.
