The Chinese experts will visit several cattle farms, will be introduced to animal rearing conditions, feeding, treatment and other processes. They will also evaluate readiness and technical capabilities of Klaipeda Seaport and the cattle quarantine centre located in Klaipeda region to export animals.
“The visit of experts was planned in July, when representatives from the Ministry of Commerce and AQSIQ visited Lithuania. The second visit of experts from China’s responsible institution regarding the evaluation of dairy product export should take place in September. It is pleasing that the work is proceeding on schedule. I am sure that information collected during the visit will have significance when adopting positive decisions and that in the near future our farmers and milk producers will be able to begin searching for live cattle and dairy product export opportunities to China,” Director of the State Food and Veterinary Service (VMT) Jonas Milius said.
