Concern for safety at Baltic Pride in Vilnius after Orlando attack

“We will definitely take no additional safety measures, the police will control the situation, as always. Of course, the forces for public peace will be a bit larger. I do not see anything exceptional that would cause us to take additional measures,” Žilinskas told reporters after the government’s meeting on Monday.

In his words, no additional funding will be required.

Following the attack in an LGBT club in Orlando, Florida, last weekend, Žilinskas said he had no information about threats for the participants of the Vilnius pride event.

On June 18, the 3rd Baltic Pride march for equality will take place on Gediminas Avenue. Organizers expect that the rally in central Vilnius should bring together up to 1,000 people.
