Conservative MP Adomėnas questioned as witness in MG Baltic probe

“Yes, I was questioned as witness at the Special Investigation Service,” Adomėnas told BNS.

He said agents had questions about a few of his meetings with the concern’s vice-president Raimondas Kurlianskis.

Adomėnas said he had met with the businessman to “discuss the political situation.”

“He was interested in political processes, (asked) who would win the parliamentary elections, who would win the election for party leadership, etc.,” said the MP.

The conservative MP said he had not discussed any specific bills or support for Seimas votes.

Last year, Lithuania’s law-enforcement opened a pre-trial investigation into influence peddling and bribery. Eligijus Masiulis, former leader of the Liberal Movement, is suspected of taking a bribe of over 100,000 euros from Kurlianskis for the party’s operations in favor of the concern. In the framework of the probe, the Special Investigation Service also said it suspected Kurlianskis of attempts to influence members of the Labour Party in exchange for bribes so that they would work in the concern’s best interest.
