Consumers still pessimistic about Lithuania’s economy, survey shows

According to Statistics Lithuania, in January 2015, consumer confidence indicator was -9, the same as in January 2014. In January, 14 percent of respondents indicated that their household’s financial situation improved compared to what it was 12 months ago, 25 percent said it worsened, while 60 percent said they felt no changes.

Forecasting their household’s financial situation over the next 12 months, 19 percent of the polled expected it to improve, 24 percent said it would worsen and 52 percent said it would not change.

Speaking about Lithuania’s economic situation in January, 22 percent of respondents said it improved in the last 12 months (29 pct in December), 31 percent said it worsened (29 pct in December) and 46 percent indicated that it did not change. 30 percent of the polled expected Lithuania’s economic situation to improve this year, while 31 percent said it would worsen.

The survey is carried out in the first two weeks of every month. 1,200 people, randomly picked from the Residents’ Register, are polled.
