Since the beginning of the pandemic, 184,208 cases of COVID-19 have been diagnosed in Lithuania. So far, 2,867 people have died from Covid-19. 132,326 people recovered. The number of active cases is 46,722.

Over the past day, over 8,026 coronavirus tests were performed, since the beginning of the pandemic – 1,947,747 tests.

World Health Organization (WHO) inspectors will visit a laboratory in Wuhan, China on Wednesday, which US officials have suggested may be the source of the coronavirus pandemic.

The Council of Experts proposes not to release lockdown restrictions for the time being, said Ramunė Kalėdienė, the head of the quarantine group of the Council of Experts.

“We are following this strategy of not easing the restrictions immediately as soon as we move from the worst to the lesser epidemiological situation. We should wait for this condition stabilise,” LSMU professor Kalėdienė told BNS.

“After a lengthy, really intense debate, given the experience of other countries, (…) we have not yet come up with any proposals to lift any quarantine restrictions next week. We suggest waiting for the lower boundary of scenario C,” she said.

At a government meeting on Wednesday, ministers announced plans to consider allowing cosmetic centres and non-grocery stores to open if they have a separate entrance from outside.

According to Kalėdienė, these exemptions could only be introduced at the lower end of the “C” scenario – 150 cases per 100,000 residents within 14 days.
