Covid-19. March 1

From Monday (March 1), travellers can take a coronavirus test at Vilnius Airport.

Testing services will be provided to travellers by the company Rezus.lt, which deals in medical and laboratory research – the company Lietuvos oro uostai announced in its announcement.

Paid tests will be carried out in special temporary structures located on the site of one of the car parks.

“Today, the testing process begins at the Vilnius airport, and from April – at the airports in Kaunas and Palanga. You can take the test not only before departure, but also after your return,” Dainius Čiuplys, director of the Lithuanian Airport Operations and Infrastructure Department, told journalists.

“This is a step towards restoring interest in flights,” he added.

Interior Minister Agnė Bilotaitė says that the current COVID-19 situation does not allow for possible mitigation to be considered.

“Overall, things are not getting better and there are no signs that anything will change. As for the easing, the indicators and the situation are not such that we can consider them,” Bilotaitė told reporters.

She said this after a meeting of the Government Committee on Extreme Affairs.

“Today, after our meeting, we have not presented the government with any new proposals for consideration,” said the minister.

Lithuania’s chief epidemiologist Loreta Ašoklienė says that Lithuania fares well in the overall context of the European Union, but that the incidence is increasing in parts of Europe.
