Covid-19. May 03

Vilnius is finishing administering the vaccine from an additional delivery. This week, it intends to invite residents aged 45+ and the elderly for vaccinations. Another large delivery of vaccines is expected.

As of Monday morning, there were over 12,000 vacancies in the registration system.

The head of the capital’s municipal administration Lina Koriznienė again encourages seniors who gave up this possibility early to take the vaccine. According to Koriznienė, Vilnius will receive approximately 30,000 doses of AstraZeneca this week and a number of Moderna and Pfizer doses.

From today, pursuant to a government decision, marketplaces and other public places of trade are resuming operations.

Traders should provide at least 15 square meters of space for one customer.

On the other hand, in places of trade where more than one trader operates, and the trade stand is less than 50 percent of the total retail space, there should be no less than 50 square meters of space per one customer or there may be service to no more than one customer at a time .

Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, during a joint press conference with the Prime Minister of Lithuania, emphasized that the future of the economy and economic growth will depend on how effectively the disease will be combated.

“We have Lithuanian citizens of Polish origin, and from what I have heard in Lithuania, who contest the vaccination program. This is an inappropriate attitude, because vaccinations and vaccines are our only hope of getting rid of this fatal pandemic,” said Prime Minister M. Morawiecki.

“Speaking here in Vilnius, I would like to ask both Poles and Poles living in Lithuania to get vaccinated as soon as possible, so that they can forget about this epidemic as soon as possible and enjoy the benefits of living normally,” added the Prime Minister.

I. Šimonytė added that it was agreed with the Polish Prime Minister to coordinate the actions of governments in combating the coronavirus.
