The Ministry of Economics and Innovation announced that the opportunity passport will be available on a specially prepared website from May 24.

The document will be free of charge in electronic and paper form. The QR code will ensure the security and authenticity of the certificate.

Persons who do not have the technical means to confirm their identity online will be able to obtain a passport of opportunity free of charge at the Centre of Registers’ customer service points upon presentation of an identity document. There are 50 branches of the Centre in Lithuania.

You will not need any special equipment to check the document – the code contained in it can be scanned with a phone or tablet. After scanning the received QR code, the screen will show green or red (if the passport is valid, green, if not red). If necessary, the identity of the person can be verified on the basis of an identity document. The passport of opportunity will contain minimally sensitive data – only those that are necessary to identify the person: name, surname and date of birth.

The epidemiological situation in the country has not changed within a week and remains stable, the National Centre for Public Health reported. However, epidemiologists point out that the number of coronavirus outbreaks in the food production, tailoring and furniture sectors, as well as logistics and shipping increased over the course of the week.

On the other hand, fewer outbreaks were recorded in the service sector and in the health sector. On the other hand, no outbreaks were recorded in social welfare institutions.

At the end of last week, the country had 365 active outbreaks of infection, compared to 364 a week ago.

The Department of Statistics reports that there were 421 active Sars-Cov2 outbreaks in the country as of Tuesday.

Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė describes the situation related to the pandemic as unpleasant but stable. As she announced, changes to the quarantine rules are not being considered any time soon.

“There will be no discussions about quarantine decisions on Wednesday. Although the incidence is not optimistic, I cannot say that it is growing. It has been at a similar level for three weeks,” the head of government said in an interview with journalists.

As she said, if the situation does not worsen, the government will not introduce additional restrictions.

Incidence rate per 100,000 inhabitants in the last 14 days is now 602.8. The percentage of positive tests is 5.7%.
