Egypt announced that it has reached an agreement with Russia to purchase 20 million doses of the Sputnik V vaccine.

The Egyptian government report states that the doses will be delivered in batches by the end of this year.

In addition, Egypt reached an agreement with Johnson & Johnson to purchase 20 million doses of this vaccine.

On Thursday, the 4th delivery of the vaccine from the pharmaceutical company Janssen Pharmaceutica NV arrived in Lithuania. 4,800 doses of the vaccine were received.

So far, Lithuania has received 16.8 thousand. doses of this manufacturer’s vaccine. According to the Ministry of Healthcare, 3.9 thousand doses were used.

Vaccines are to be distributed taking into account unvaccinated residents from priority groups. Local governments with the highest incidence of coronavirus are also to receive more vaccines.

So far, 904,000 inhabitants of the country, or 32.3 per cent of the population have been vaccinated with one or two doses.

Although the coronavirus incidence rate in Lithuania continues to decline, our country still remains in 2nd place among 30 countries in the EU and the European Economic Area, the latest data from the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control indicate.

Incidence rate per 100,000 inhabitants in the last 2 weeks in Lithuania is 562.83. Mortality rate – 55.83 per million inhabitants.

This week, only Sweden is ahead of us with an incidence rate of 577.38. Cyprus is in third place.

The lowest incidence remains in non-EU Iceland. Second from last is Malta, third is Portugal.
