Covid-19. May 31

Professor at the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences Mindaugas Stankūnas shared on social media important information about the coronavirus rates in the country. According to him, some indicators have recently undergone very significant changes.

“If we look at the average of new COVID-19 infections a week, the change is impressive – from 1,200 cases on May 10 to 495 on May 28,” the professor wrote on Facebook.

As he reported, the number of infected patients treated in hospitals also decreased significantly during this period – from 1,120 to 774. The number of patients in intensive care units is also declining.

As Stankūnas noted, the number of the most severe patients began to decline earlier. The percentage of positive tests for the presence of the virus is at 2.8%. We haven’t seen numbers like this, as Professor Stankūnas writes, since last September.

In Lithuania, from May 31, mass vaccination of the population was launched against the coronavirus – all residents over 16 years of age can get vaccinated.

Registration for vaccinations takes place on the website koronastop.lt.
