“The competition will be announced on July 25, tomorrow,” Arūnas Malinovskis, spokesman for the Culture Ministry, told BNS on Monday.
In his words, the search for a new head of the theater will spread to abroad.
The National Opera and Ballet Theater is currently headed by CFO Sigitas Žutautas who replaced long-standing CEO Gintautas Kevišas in June after he was sacked over violations of public and private interests.
Žutautas has refused to specify whether he would seek to take the post on a permanent basis. He told BNS he would like to see the requirements first.
The application deadline is Sept. 5, with plans to sign a five-year contract with the winner.
Kevišas, who had headed the theater for 15 years, has filed complaints over his dismissal and other decisions taken by Culture Minister Liana Ruokytė-Jonsson.
