Demand for Lithuanian national flag soars in run-up to centennial – daily

Giedrė Vilkė, marketing director at Pigu.lt, says that the online shop sold twice as many flags in January as in the whole year 2017. Compared with January 2017 alone, sales soared eight-fold.

Vilma Drulienė, chief commercial officer at the retail chain Maxima, says that demand for goods with national symbols jumped by more than 30 percent in early 2018 compared with a year ago and continues to grow.

“We’re working hard to cope with the demand. We still have standard-sized flags in stock, but custom orders for oversized tricolors increased by around 30 percent and we are almost at our capacity limit,” Kristina Bakanienė, project manager at PICOline, an advertising studio that produces national flags, told the paper.

Aivaras Andruškevičius, CEO at AKA Baltic, another national flag producer, also noted a surge in demand for the tricolor.
