Deputy interior minister steps down after merely days in office

“I am resigning because I do not see any possibilities of performing my duty as a deputy minister, given such hostile atmosphere here. From the very first day I was thrown into a flow of dirt and slander, which is unacceptable to me. I appreciate the trust that was shown to me, however, having discussed it with my family, I am making a decision which will guarantee a peace of mind to me and my loved-ones,” he said in his press release.

Interior Minister Dailis Alfonsas Barakauskas has accepted his deputy’s letter of resignation.
