EC congratulates Lithuania on euro membership with Berlaymont banner

Jurgis Gurstis, spokesman for Lithuania’s European Commissioner Vytenis Povilas Andriukaitis, told BNS on Monday the banner featuring Lithuanian euros and saying “Welcome to the euro area, Lithuania!” in Flemish, French, English and Lithuanian appeared on the building several days ago.

“By tradition, a huge banner across the whole building is hanged every time to mark an important event or occasion in the European Union. This banner should hang for at least several weeks,” Gurstis says.
