The newest plan by President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker should be officially presented on 9 September. According to EUobserver, Juncker should also announce new rules which would facilitate the resettlement of refugees in the Balkans to other countries faster, if they are seeking asylum in the European Union (EU).
EC had previously proposed to distribute 40,000 refugees from Syria and Eritrea, currently waiting in Italy and Greece, but in July the EU’s interior ministers agreed on what to do with only 32,000 refugees. According to the last official estimation, Lithuania should take in 325 migrants.
