Education minister: Lithuania needs more people with math skills

“The reasons for this decision were that not only Lithuania but also entire Europe lacks people who have knowledge in mathematics, in exact sciences and related disciplines. Taking into consideration the future of Lithuania, on what we will live on, what we will produce and what we will export, our only asset is educated people, who are able to produce, create and so on,” said Pavalkis in an interview to the Žinių Radijas radio on Tuesday.

According to the minister, the compulsory mathematics exam is necessary for the Lithuanian society to improve knowledge in mathematics, logics, to be able to calculate the interests on instant credits or manage their household.
