The Chrysler Grand Voyager with diplomatic car plates entered Lithuania from Belarus on Thursday via Medininkai border checkpoint’s Green Channel. The driver, working for the embassy, told officers he had nothing to declare.
The officers, however, suspected that illegal goods might be in the car and summoned representatives of the embassy. Upon their arrival, the vehicle was partly searched and 60,600 Winston Blue cigarettes, worth EUR 7,200, were found hidden inside.
The car was detained and a report was filed.
The Lithuanian Customs Service does not reveal which foreign embassy the car belonged to.
