Danas Arlauskas, director general of the Lithuanian Employee Confederation, told the portal that the organization had already submitted proposals to the new ruling Peasant and Green Union on steps that can be taken in connection to the new Labour Code, noting that employers would pledge to increase employer wages by a certain extent, if an agreement is reached.
Artūras Černiauskas, the head of the Confederation of Lithuanian Trade Unions, said he had not heard anything about the Labour Code and the wage increase, expressing doubt about the agreement but not ruling out the possibility. Gitanas Nausėda, adviser to SEB Bankas president, said the idea was attractive but difficult to translate into reality.
LPGU member Tomas Tomilinas, deputy chairman of the parliamentary Social Affairs and Labour Committee, said the agreement on the Labour Code and the commitment to raise wages would not be an exchange.
