EP decides to renew probe into CIA prisons, Lithuanian parliament to take it up in spring session

The relevant resolution was supported my 363 MEPs, while 290 MEPs voted against and 48 abstained.

The document was adopted in reaction to the recent report by US Senate which “reveals new facts showing that some member-states, their authorities, security and intelligence officers and agents contributed to the secret imprisonment programme arranged by the CIA“.

Lithuania’s parliament is planning to come back to the issue during the spring session of the Seimas. A relevant investigation commission is proposed to be comprised of 12 MPs from different political groups of parliament according to the principle of proportional representation.

There is also a proposal to rule that the commission present its findings and proposals to the Seimas by 3 June 2015.
