The opposition intended to use the extraordinary session to discuss the impeachment of Labour Party MP Vytautas Gapšys, who has been convicted of fraudulent bookkeeping. However, the extraordinary session ended after only an hour when the majority of the Seimas members gathered failed to ratify the meeting’s agenda, effectively ending the session.
The opposition has demanded that the extraordinary session continue. The initiators wanted to begin an impeachment procedure for Gapšys and to form a temporary investigative committee to reveal where the Labour Party received €7 million off of the books about a decade ago.
