“Based on the information available to me, there should not be any objections, because everybody is essentially in favour of extending sanctions for a half a year,” the minister said on Thursday, during the Government Hour at the Seimas.
The issue about sanctions against Russia will be discussed on Friday by the European Council. The question was raised at a higher political level at the request of Italy, although the decision regarding the extension of sanctions should have been made last week by the foreign ministers of the EU. President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker was also in favour of extending sanctions.
