Event to commemorate victims of Mariupol attack to be held in Vilnius

People are invited to bring candles which will be lit and placed forming the name of Ukraine‘s port city, Mariupol. Afterwards a procession will walk from the Seimas to the Embassy of Ukraine where candles will be lit as well.

As reported, a rocket barrage on Ukrainian city Mariupol left 30 people dead and at least 95 wounded. According to Kiev, pro-Russian fighters used Grad multiple rocket launcher systems and fired on the market and residential areas. However, separatists themselves denied their responsibility and called the accusations disinformation.

Mariupol Mayor’s Office says the situation is now stable in the city.

On Lithuania’s request, the United Nations Security Council will convene to discuss the situation in Ukraine.
