Ex-Lithuanian finmin to announce decision on presidential race

Šimonytė will hold a press conference at the parliament at 11.30 a.m.

37 HU-LCD branches have nominated Šimonytė for president. 34 branches earlier nominated Žygimantas Pavilionis, an MP and former diplomat, but he eventually decided against joining the presidential race.

28 HU-LCD branches have also nominated financial analyst Gitanas Nausėda who is not a member of the party, and 27 branches have nominated party member and former Foreign Minister Vygaudas Ušackas.

Nausėda, Ušackas and Šimonytė have time until Wednesday to announce whether they will take part in the HU-LCD primaries.
