It would appear that the Lithuanian Farmer and Greens Union (LVŽS) has decided to teach Dovilė Šakalienė, who abandoned their ranks for those of the Liberals, a lesson.
On Tuesday evening, at the end of the Seimas plenary meeting, the parliament was presented with the question of reconstituting the Seimas Commission of Suicide and Violence Prevention.
The “Farmers” decided to raise the number of commission members from 10 to 12 and with quotas redistributed, Šakalienė, who is the deputy chairperson, is to be removed from the commission.
Based on the Seimas ruling, Šakalienė and liberal Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen are to be removed from the commission, while “farmers” Rima Baškienė, Agnė Širinskienė and social democrat Raminta Popovienė and conservative Vytautas Kernagis are to be included in it.
Despite D. Šakalienė not being present on the Tuesday plenary meeting due to illness, the question of commission reconstitution was begun to deliberate. The final ruling is to be made on Thursday.
