The 24 municipalities include the districts of Prienai, Raseiniai, Švenčionys, Kėdainiai, Jonava, Ukmergė, Lazdijai, Joniškis, Šilalė, Šilutė, Ignalina, Telšiai, Jurbarkas and Mažeikiai, the city of Kaunas, the city and district of Klaipėda, cities of Panevėžys and Alytus, Birštonas, Kazlų Rūda, Visaginas and Marijampolė.
The highest flu and acute upper respiratory tract infection (URI) incidence rates were registered in Visaginas and Kazlų Rūda, at 280.7 and 391.2 cases per 10,000 inhabitants, respectively.
Lithuania’s overall flu and URI incidence rate for Jan. 29 through Feb. 4 reached 179.6 per 10,000 inhabitants, up from 127.6 a year ago.
Flu epidemics in their territories are declared by municipalities. Epidemic levels are reached when over 100 flu and URI cases are reported per population of 10,000 per week, while the number of clinical flu cases accounts for around 30 percent.
