Former president Adamkus to publish a memoir book

The president’s book is planned to be presented at next year’s Vilnius Book Fair.

The book’s co-author, journalist Valdas Bartasevičius, says that although the publication will be mostly based on Adamkus’ diaries, it will also offer his own insights and reflections not only on the current affairs but also on the fate of a politician in current times.

“His diaries cover the last five years since Adamkus left his office. However, in our recorded conversations the former president spoke about his entire life, political experience and his two presidential tenures. The book also offers some general thoughts on the fate of a politician and our lives. It is definitely very open as Adamkus, who will soon turn 88, can look back at his entire life without having to worry what others might say or think,” said the co-author.
