A new Council chairman was elected after previous chairman Žygintas Pečiulis‘ term expired. Gadeikis was nominated to the LRT Council in 2016 by the opposition conservative Homeland Union – Lithuanian Christian Democrats‘ political group in the Seimas.
The Council has 12 members, with four delegated by the president and parliament, and another four by public organizations.
The Council is the public broadcaster’s top governing body representing public interests.
