Germany does not approve of NATO’s military expansion to Poland and Baltic States

The German government sticks firmly to the belief that one can avoid using “long-term presence of large military forces” in Eastern Europe, as mentioned in the soon-to-be published response of the Cabinet of Ministers to the request of Alliance ’90/The Greens.

The refusal to introduce NATO forces in Eastern Europe complies with Russia-NATO pact, as mentioned in the response. Instead of increasing military presence in Eastern Europe, Germany supports the development of conditions that would allow the relocation of NATO forces if such a need arises.
