Government endorses Lithuanian airport concession bill

Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevičius has said hopes that the parliament will adopt the needed legislation to announce the international concession competition for the Lithuanian airport management. According to the prime minister, the Ministry of Communications will submit the amended bills to the government by the beginning of December.

The prime minister has said: “We look at it strategically and see that with adoption of this bill, it would be possible to have more flights to various countries. By using this model we could further develop Lithuanian airport sector. I mean, to better use our cargo terminals which are in Vilnius and Kaunas. Furthermore, all the value added by the concessionaires would then be left to our country.”
