Grybauskaitė sees Nord Stream project as EU energy policy ‘shroderization’

“Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 for us are geopolitical projects. They are not purely commercial, especially seeing who is handling these projects. For us this means one thing – shroderization of energy policy in the EU. It means a very bad message,” Grybauskaitė said in Helsinki at a joint news conference with her Finnish counterpart, Sauli Niinisto.

In her words, continuation of the project would mean higher energy dependence of some EU member-states upon Russia.

Ninisto, in his turn, stated that Finland was only raising environmental issues when it comes to the willingness to extend the Nord Stream pipeline.
