“It is our gift to all people of Lithuania, all Lithuanians, wherever they are, it can be used for free, to share ideas and send congratulatory messages,” Ignas Kozlovas, creative director at Folk creative agency, said at the presentation event.
From this morning, the Signato font can be downloaded from a special website signato.lt. It includes 450 symbols. To create an impression of a hand-written text, the letters have a few variations and are connected in different ways, therefore, two versions of the same text will look different.
Experts of the Lithuanian police Criminal Investigations Center have concluded that the 1918 Independence Act that was discovered in Germany last March had been hand-written by signatory Jurgis ^aulys.
In Kozlovas’ words, the manuscript lacked certain symbols, therefore, authors of the Signato font went to the Lithuanian archives to analyze other documents.
The Independence Act was located at the German Foreign Ministry’s archives by the Vytautas Magnus University’s professor Liudas Mažylis in March of 2017. The document is currently on display at the House of Signatories in Vilnius.
