Kaunas Mayor Matijošaitis hits pedestrian in car accident

The mayor’s spokesman, Tomas Grigalevičius, said that the incident took place in Sv. Gertrūdos Street in downtown Kaunas at around 8 a.m.

Justina Kazragytė, spokeswoman for the Kaunas county police, told BNS that a report about the traffic accident was received at 8:30 a.m.

The initial report said that Matijošaitis’ Porsche knocked down the pedestrian in a crosswalk, but later police updated the information to say that the accident occurred near, but not in, the crosswalk.

The injured man was taken to hospital in a conscious condition for medical examination.
