“Out of all fairness, if this is relevant to you, I would like to say that the president proposed other people too. The prime minister perhaps had his own take on this, but it was left for the Labour Party to decide and we proposed Rokas Masiulis,” Graužinienė told the national radio on Monday.
Graužinienė pointed out that the president “issued priorities for the candidacy itself, on the competence of a person she would like to see nominated, but it does not mean there are no such people in the ranks of the Labour Party”.
“The projects are very important and significant, international work is involved, thus we wanted that the person would start work at day one, especially when the construction of the terminal (liquefied natural gas terminal in Klaipėda – ELTA) has been recognised a project of national importance. The minister will take oath on Thursday and will be able to start work from the very first day,” the Seimas speaker said.
Masiulis had been the CEO of Klaipėdos Nafta since 2010. The company is responsible for implementation of the liquefied natural gas project. Previously he had worked in international audit companies, was director in a financial services company.
