Latvian citizen shot dead in Lithuania

Ramūnas Matonis, head of communication at the Police Department, told BNS Lithuania one of the victims was a Latvian citizen. He also said the killer shot twice at police officers when they arrived.

“Two shots were fired at them. The officers demanded that the man put the gun down but he pointed it at himself and shot himself,” Matonis said, adding that an investigating was underway.

The incident in the village of Eidintai around 7 p.m. when the man, born in 1949, shot a female neighbor, born 19387, and her visiting Latvian son-in-law, born in 1961, with his registered Glock-17.

The killer and the victims had no family ties. According to media reports, the shooter had disputes with almost all of his neighbors.
