The appeal to the VRK was signed by Eligijus Masiulis, the leader of the party, Edita Rudelienė, Mayor of Trakai District, and Nijolė Lisevičienė, chairwoman of the Liberal Movement Trakai Chapter.
“Because the Central Electoral Commission is still unable to clearly confirm the reliability and transparency of election results in Trakai and to dispel doubts in the public sphere over possible election violations, we urge the Commission to take responsibility and hold new elections in Trakai District. The VRK has to ensure that voting and the results are reliable,” said Masiulis, chairman of the Liberal Movement.
Mayor of Trakai District Edita Rudelienė was surprised that despite the liberals’ requests the VRK has not yet clearly confirmed or denied if votes had been bought during the election and if so, then for which party or candidates.
