Up until now, Lithuania has been next-to-last in this regard for many years.
“Based on NATO definition of defence spending, Lithuania rose to the 19th position among 28 NATO member countries in 2015 in terms of the percentage share of its state budget spent on defence,” the Ministry of National Defence, Communication and Public Relations Department, told BNS on Monday.
Lithuania ‘s 2015 defence budget stands at EUR 425 million, or 1.11 percent of GDP. The country has upped its defence expenditure by a third in response to Russia‘s aggression in Ukraine.
