Lithuania climbs to 16th place on Doing Business index

Lithuania’s Prime Minister Saulius Skvernelis says the country would work to become the most competitive market of the region that would create well-paid jobs, adding that the Tuesday’s rating means Lithuania is on the right path.

“Changes on the Doing Business rating signal that we are on the right path and that we’re moving fast. We have envisaged measures and solutions, which will be applied in the future. We will seek to become the most competitive market in the region. New and well-paid jobs for the people of Lithuania is the ultimate objective of these efforts,” Skvernelis said in a comment to BNS.

Doing Business rating is an assessment of business environment by methods and scenarios defined by the World Bank. Lithuania has been rated on the index since 2004, reporting the highest ranking of 15th in 2005.

The government’s action plan envisages reaching the 15th place on the rating by 2020.
