Lithuania planning refugee integration centres in Vilnius, Kaunas and Klaipėda

The ministry has issued a call for non-governmental organizations set up the centres.

According to the ministry, the centres will be opened in the cities with the largest expected number of foreigners.

The projected duration of the projects is between 3 and 3.5 years. They will be financed from the national program of 2014-2020 of the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund.

The integration centres will organize lessons of the Lithuanian language and civil matters, provide legal and psychological counselling, offer information, advice, mediation and representation services, as well as other social assistance activities and measures to help better integration.

The centres will focus on servicing foreigners with residence permits, including refugees who will be resettled in Lithuania from Italy, Greece, Hungary and third countries.

All in all, Lithuania has agreed to receive 1,105 refugees from countries like Syria, Iraq and Eritrea.
